Dry eye is a common ocular condition, which usually stems from the protective tear film over the surface of the eye evaporating more quickly. What causes this to happen is a deficiency in the lipid or oil layer of the tear film, which in most cases is caused by Meibomian Gland Dysfunction. In turn, the eyes become increasingly exposed to air, wind, debris and sunlight, resulting in burning, stinging, tearing, itching sensations and redness.

Dry eye has no definitive cure, but the symptoms can be treated. Artificial tear eye drops can bring much relief to dry eyes, while ointments and humidifiers can be helpful, but a hassle. Punctal plugs and Restasis are also treatment options for dry eye. LipiFlow Thermal Pulsation Therapy is a new and exciting advancement in the treatment of dry eye. Dr. Calderone of Better Vision New Jersey is pleased to be the first, and currently the only, practice in New Jersey to offer this exciting new technology.

Both Dr. Calderone and Dr. Chopin of Better Vision New Jersey are experts in the diagnosis and treatment of dry eye. They encourage you to review the educational information and treatment options for dry eye and request a consultation to determine the best dry eye treatment for you.
